hi to all,

i'm using a dell inspiron 1300 with an intel hda sound card....
and when i use the gentoo-sources or any other 2.6.15.* kernel everythings cool and works...

but when i use the 2.6.16.* kernel there's no sound...
no matter if i compile "Intel HD Audio" into the kernel or if i load it as a module....
i even tried it with the alsa-driver.. and no alsa-support in the kernel...

maybe the 2.6.16-kernel tree isn't yet supporting intel HDA...

any suggestions?

Suggestion: Stick with stable kernels.

well yeah.. that's what i'm supposed to...
but the loading time with a 2.6.15 kernel is massive...
and with the 2.6.16 it goes very fast that the gdm login screen is up
so i just wanted to add sound to that...

btw: 2.6.16.5 is a stable kernel

I have a sound blaster 5.1 (EMU10K-X) the Dell OEM version.

I had a similar problem, when upgrading to the kernels 2.6.15-* and 2.6.16-* my sound system wouldn't work....

when I play a video, it was so slow, like 1 FPS, and no sound. When I disable sound, the high definition video plays perfectly...

So I went back to the latest 2.6.14 (r7), and I guess I will stick to this one and later try again if it is fixed...

With both kernels, I also noticed that my system did not shutdown, my system was a bit slower and firefox crashed several time..
and with 2.6.16, ati-drivers compiled but did not succed to load.

glibc 2.4-r1
gcc-3.4.6

It's not, and there are reasons for it.

It's covered here...
http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/3/17/279

Can't use it on my suspend2-sources though :(
Hoping to see a release with solution soon! ;)
