hey. its been a while! wow.. gentoo. first no more stage 1. then 2. and now theres no stages at all? ><!
i have a few questions. here goes!
1. can i make a 'live cd' on my external usb. so live cd auto config and detections. extra space on usb2 for programs and file storage?. so i want to create a working desktop enviroment where i can carry around, and only have the hardware change.
2. how do we put a little border on our vmterms. like the one gentoo live cd has. the purple border on the bottom.
3. more to come later =)
thanks guys |

1) Anything is possible. Read up on catalyst (spelling?) if you want to do this with Gentoo. I would suggest just using a recent version of Knoppix live cd image installed onto usb and updated such that it boots. (by the way, a manual stage3 install is *still* the safest way to install Gentoo) ((just do a quick search for 2006.0 CLI and see the hundreds of "help me!" posts))
2) Read up on gensplash and splashutils and the gentoo-sources kernel sources. (needed for the vesa-tng framebuffer driver) _________________

You can actually compile from a stage1 tarball, and the will stay availabe, it just not supported anymore, but if you have done so before you should know howto.
For question 1:
Yes, thats possible
For question 2:
Using gensplash and splashutils
For question 3:
