Hey guys hope some one here with more experience can help me out with this problem. I have a RTL8185L wireless card, I downloaded and installed the drivers for linux from their website. Once the drivers are initiated, I can bring it up by using ifconfig wlan0 up. I can configure it to use my ap with iwconfig wlan0 essid belkin54g. There is no encryption on this network. iwlist wlan0 scan reports the network. No matter what I do I cant get the card to connect to the ap! lspci shows the card installed, so does dmesg. any ideas?? Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: Also wanted to note that while ndiswrapper worked (as in it loaded the drivers and found the hardware) it was unable to connect as well.

Have you been able to connect to this network before with this NIC card? This probably isn't your problem, but make sure that your network card supports the same protocol as your network, and there there are no MAC filters enabled on the router. My network card only supported 11b and my network was only using the 11g protocol, so that ended up being my problem. These things will make it unable for you to connect but will not produce errors during an attempt. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the reply, the card is b/g, same as the ap. Any one else have any ideas? Or know a card that should work with out too much hassle?
