Hi,

I emerged Kde two days ago, and after several packages, wget only got few bytes per second download and when I wanted to browse the net, it was also not possible, because my connection was so slow. so I tried emerge -f kde and got all packages without problems. Today I wanted to emerge Koffice, and after 5 packets I got the same problem. I always have to reboot to get my normal Internet connection, and can't emerge without fetching packets before compiling...

please help me

is your internet connection working OK using a different OS or even different computer?

just to make sure your problem is related to gentoo at all, or just a problem with your ISP. it sounds untypically that everything works well 5 hours, and then stops or slows down.

Yes, my internet connection is working properly with 2mbit, its also working under gentoo, but when I compile new packages, after 10 minutes or so it starts to get hell slow.

ok, after it slows down, post the last 10 lines of:
/var/log/messages

run "dmesg" in a terminal, and post the last 10 lines as well.

also post the output of "ifconfig"

oh, btw.. just realizing it happens after/while compiling.. is your machine overclocked, by any chance? well, post the outputs as mentioned above and we will see.

overclocking is your problem, it shows. stop using overclocking and your problem will go away. at least stop overclocking your fsb!! your data is unsafe, and files might get corrupted.

its very useful to have. emerge syslog-ng and put it to your default runlevel.
however, no need to post it for this case.
