I use SILC at work and with previous (stable) versions of gaim had no problems. However, the new 2.0 betas just don't work with SILC. They compile the plugin, or whatever it is, and install it alongside the other protocol files, but when running don't know that SILC is a protocol. I've tried re-merging both silc and gaim w/ no luck, and emerging an old version of gaim immediately works. Anyone else noticed this? I'd ask the gaim people directly whether this is a problem with the beta, but the _hate_ gentooers from what I recall. Any ideas / solutions?
EDIT: Last time I checked, the silc stuff was in /usr/lib64/gaim/ but no longer, so maybe it just doesn't install now.  |

| Do you have the USE flag +silc ??? It controls if you are going to install the silc protocol or not. If not, set it in make.conf (or package.keywords) and "emerge -Nu gaim". |

Perhpas there's something wrong with the ebuild? Try manually installing it locally and see if it works.
It also could be temporarily broken, it is beta after all. Check the gaim bug list. |

| I did check the gaim bug list, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone successfully installed any of the 2.0 betas with silc? If that's the case I will take the time to install by hand (but I'm very busy right now so I'd rather not if it's not likely to work). |

| yeah silc is not working for me either in gaim 2.0 beta 3 the protocol dose not show up in the list. |

I was merging gaim2 beta 6 with silc flag but i still can't choose silc protocol in the contact menu.
Is there anything else needed? Or still a bug?
flags i used are:
