How to get a Philips GoGear 2GB to work on Linux...?

It says it uses an HDD and not a flash drive, so I dunno. It comes with software, which I tried installing on my Win2k w/SP4, but it just wont install the device drivers... So now I'm just trying to get Linux to recognize it's there, so I can try to use Wine and all that.

do you get any log messages when you plug this in ?
what is the output from fdisk -l?
