i'm not able to emerge and even open my mail account on any website,otherwise browsing is ok
like mail.yahoo.com is opening but on entering my id and psswd it is showing login.yahoo.com couldnot be found.pls. check the name and try again
same is the case with gmail.
niether wget nor emerge is responding

i 've correctly set nameserver in resolv.conf

Give us a little more info...
output of netstat -r
output of ifconfig -a
contents of /etc/resolv.conf
And details of your internet connection. (locally attached DSL, thru LAN, etc)
