|
|
Hi,
Since a while cdda2wav will freeze if I try to use it as a user. The last thing I see is the following:
cdda2wav -D /dev/hdc returns:
Code: |
CDINDEX discid: WMNt.gLiP1pJRLNoIxC4lckad2I-
CDDB discid: 0x7c086d0a
CD-Text: not detected
CD-Extra: not detected
samplefile size will be 41905628 bytes.
recording 237.5600 seconds stereo with 16 bits @ 44100.0 Hz ->'audio'...
cdda2wav: Operation not permitted. cannot set posix realtime scheduling policy
percent_done:
0%cdda2wav: Operation not permitted. Cannot send SCSI cmd via ioctl
|
The groups command returns:
Code: | disk wheel floppy audio cdrom video games cdrw usb users plugdev scanner |
ls -l /dev/hdc returns:
Code: | brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 apr 22 10:01 /dev/hdc |
Anyone an idea? _________________ Rubyripper, a secure audio ripper for linux. Look at the wiki page http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Rubyripper for technical and developer info, screenshots and discussion about it's future.

Did you have any luck figuring this out? I have the exact same problem. This works as root but not as user. Cdparanoia works fine but cdda2wav does not. |

Same here. I also notice that when burning CD there are some problems.. (very slow...). maybe independent problem.
Kernel is 2.6.16-r3 |

I am using kernel 2.6.15 as well. The burn process is very slow. Using grip and cdparanoia it takes forever to rip a disc and grip doesnt even report the rip speed correctly (it stays at 0.0x). I see the same problem running grip with cdda2wav as root user. I am using the gentoo-sources with genkernel and the only change I made was added mppe in as a module. |

I currently run 2.6.16-gentoo-r4, but I don't think the kernel is to blame. I suspect GCC-4.1 is the culprit. For now I use cdparanoia to rip cd's. _________________ Rubyripper, a secure audio ripper for linux. I got this working for me. As part of the command line to cdda2wav I added "-I cooked_ioctl" and it seemed to fix the problem. |

This seems to fix it indeed, thanks! _________________ Rubyripper, a secure audio ripper for linux. Look at the wiki page http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Rubyripper for technical and developer info, screenshots and discussion about it's future. |
