I found a set of icons and cursors I like at: http://xfce-look.org/ What is the proper way to install them on a Gentoo system?

Extract the icons to ~/.icons and use an application to set them. If you are using Xfce, you can set it with the Icon Theme tab in the Theme Preferences settings box. _________________ meow.
