Is it possible to use a mouse in console, as you can during installation? I just installed gentoo on my T40; most threads/websites are dealing with getting the trackpoint to work are for X.

Trackpoint is enabled in bios (touchpad disabled), psmouse is loaded as a module. I loaded evdev and found that /dev/input/event1 seems to be the trackpoint.

Is this even possible, or have I just been chasing a lost cause? So much to learn... Thanks in advance.

----EDIT----
gpm works like a charm. not sure how I missed this: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gpm.xml

You should emerge the gpm package.
