Hi All,

I've got a server machine, and when I try to play video directly over Samba, I get some lagging. I figure some kind of streaming server is probably the best solution to this, I have some experience with VLC, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to want to install without X.

Any recommendations? (Alternatively, if anyone has any recommendations on how to get videos to play through Samba, that would help too.)

Thanks.

Do you want to actually watch the video or just go through a bunch of videos to see which one is the correct one.
If you want to do the later one you can use mplayer compiled with fbcon. This will play the video in your console
