Hey, I have been loving Doom ever since I was a youngin' watching my big brother play it.
I was looking for a modern engine to play FreeDoom, or shareware wads. I don't have the game anymore, my brother took it with him when he moved out.
prBoom seems nice, but I need mouse look. I've been looking for mouse look for ages.. I don't think there is one
Doomsday, jDoom doesn't work on AMD64. I've played it and you can get some amazing visuals + great models. Too bad.
Most of the other dooms are blocked on my system by missing keywords, I might try lsdldoom or something.
Also, can you guys suggest any games like Doom that I can get for FREE? I like stuff like Duke3d.. but unfortunately I don't have any money to spend on games. That's one reason I'm loving FreeDoom. I have Quake 2 and FreeDoom right now is all. I would really like to get my hands on Quake but it costs money.. Wish there was a FreeQuake. |

emerge -pv darkplaces. Turn on its USE flags for eye-candy, and "demo" for the demo levels. |

Thanks a lot guys. I just got Quake 1 and I was playing Darkplaces. This game is pretty cool (Eye-candy lags the crap out of me!).. Though I'm having some weird things happen.. Heh, I'm messing with it now.

Try to remove -msse3 from CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf (i guess you have this flag in that env variable) and recompile it. _________________ I was born in a deep forest/I wish I could live here all my life/I am made from stones and roots/My home, these woods and roads

Looking at your emerge --info at http://vavoom-engine.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3851#3848 , the problem seems to be the "unstable" version of gcc (gcc-4*)
Try to recompile vavoom with gcc-3.4* (actual stable version) _________________ I was born in a deep forest/I wish I could live here all my life/I am made from stones and roots/My home, these woods and roads
