Hi,
I'm trying to install Gentoo on my PII400 (96MB RAM memory) and i'm having some problems.. I'm using the 2006.0 live-cd image, but i can't even boot it :~
At my first attempt i found out that i needed to pass ide=nodma to the kernel in due to my old cdrom. It was hanging when tried to mount /dev/hdc (my cdrom device).
But i'm still getting problems with dma, although i disabled it. Now when it tries to scramble root password ("Auto-scrambling root password for security...") i get a 'dma timeout' saying that teh device is busy. Didn't I disable DMA access before? :/
Code: | hdc: DMA timeout retry
hdc: timeout waiting for DMA
hdc: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
hdc: drive not ready for command |
Can anyone help me?
