Hello,

I did 'emerge --update --deep --newuse world' few days ago and I can't input japanese any more.
I read this https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-410054-highlight-scim.html link but downgrading anthy to 6700b doesn't work for me.

Scim doesn't appear in a system tray anymore, thus I can not select input method. I tried to rum scim manually from command line. I get scim tray icon then but when I click on it I get no menu.

As I type japanese everyday this is a big problem to me. Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Jan

Found the problem. My settings for SCIM/UIM
Code:
export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export XMODIFIER=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim
export QT_IM_MODULE=scim

were saved in .xprofile file in my home directory. It seems this file is not loaded during X stratup any more .... I put above setting in file .xinitrc but X didn't loaded this setting neither .... (I start X by startxfce command).

Finally I put the setting in .bashrc which works for me. Can somebody advice me what is the proper file where I should put it in ? Which file is being used for storing custom settings for X startup ? Is .xprofile and .xinitrc deprecated ?

Thanks
Jan

p.s. i'm using ~x86 versions of uim, anthy and scim-uim packages
