Is it possible to install Gentoo/FreeBSD (or any BSD for that matter) within a logical partition of a Linux extended partition? _________________ [ Kawa-kun, new and improved!! ]

I believe I read somewhere recently that all the BSD derivatives need their slices as primary.
Never tried *BSD myself though, so accord this advice the appropriate weight ... |

Yes, that's correct. That's because an extended partition is basically a Microsoft kludge, so it has M$-DOS compatible information in it that's incompatible with *BSD (and just about any non-M$/IBM OS I've ever heard of, bar Linux). |
