My dvd somehow lands under /dev/hda
I have generated a symbolic link to /dev/dvd for xine but the problem is
that before I can play a DVD in xine I everytime need to su and then chmod a+wr /dev/hda
I just don't get it - why doesn't it keep the permissions and whatelse can I do? |

It does not keep permissions because in a way the /dev/* files are not stored on a filesystem but generated by the device drivers.
And for the permission problem you need to add your user to the cdrom-group, that should fix it without that chmod-stuff. |
