I want to print out a template for a sign, with each letter filling an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. so ideally I want a large vectorized outline of a letter. what would be the best app? thanks

Perhaps Scribus? It's similar to Adobe PageMaker

Thanks for the tip, I had never heard of scribus before. It looks like openoffice's draw program will do it though.
