|
|
Enabling the irqpoll kernel option allows me to boot with 2.6.15.1. My research indicates that this doesn't seem to work for everyone. I don't understand what other consequences this kernel option has. Hopefully it has no negative side effects.
Specifically:
Code: | IRQ 10: Nobody cares (try booting with the 'irqpoll' option)
[GUNK]
Disabling IRQ 10...
[HANG]
|
1. I have an NForce4 chipset. The motherboard does not have an alternate SATA controller.
2. I'm using 2.6.15 compiled for AMD64. I have also tried 2.6.14.1.
3. Without SATA support the kernel boots fine. I'm using the modern SATA support following the instructions for SATA in the Gentoo wiki.
4. SMP support is disabled.
I have tried:
1. Enabling support for every controller in low-level SCSI device support (not just the NVidia support). This changed nothing.
2. I have read SATA IRQ being disabled on boot. The advice in there didn't help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for reading this far.

Check your BIOS configuration. I had an issue like this (totally, different chipset though), and it depends on how I have my SATA configured in the bios. I can reboot, switch the setting, and the bug reappears. I know Nvidia chipsets don't work the same, but you may be able to find a setting that will fix this. You should also try updating the bios. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
