Here is my situation:
Code: | hdparm -Tt /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: -3008 MB in 0.00 seconds = -inf kB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: -1504 MB in 0.00 seconds = -inf kB/sec
Hmm.. suspicious results: probably not enough free memory for a proper test.

and
Code: | hdparm -i /dev/hda
/dev/hda:

It reports on boot up that DMA is disabled. |

Problem is much more likely to be related to ACPI.
SiS sucks! Throw out sis motherboard and install something better. _________________ "Yes, I know Linux runs faster, but they can do that because they have thrown out the weight of the airbag, collision frame and safety belt." —Poul-Henning Kamp |
