Hi,
I configured the USE setting for Gentoo kernel by the following settings in /etc/make.conf :
USE="-gtk -gnome qt kde dvd alsa cdr". I used genkernel, so the kernel has framebuffer suppport.
I also passed vga=0x318 in the grub.conf file.
My problem is a after booting up I can't see KDE coming up in ALT+CTL+F7. I see a blank screen. What else do I have to do?
My machine is a hp dv1540us laptop. It is a x86 machine. It has a Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML graphcs card.
What else do I have to do to start the KDE GUI.
Thanks

You know that you have to start the X-server, do you?

Then I used the command "find . -name startx"
Do I need to install startx?

I do not think these are questions to be posted here. Take a look at
Should you encounter any problems, I am glad to help.
BTW - don't you think you show to much of unix-shell-command knowledge to really ask these questions? |
