Hi,

I'm trying to view TV or capture video with my Pinnacle PCTV (Bt878 chip) but it doesn't work.

I've V4L, I2C and Bt8x8 driver enabled in the kernel, but when I do cat /dev/video0 the output is "cat: /dev/video0: Input/output error". When I start xawtv I get:
Code:

# xawtv
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/x86_64 (2.6.15-gentoo-r5)
WARNING: v4l-conf is compiled without DGA support.
WARNING: couldn't find framebuffer base address, try manual
         configuration ("v4l-conf -a <addr>")
Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-ledfixed-medium-r-*--39-*-*-*-c-*-*-*" to type FontStruct
ioctl: VIDIOC_OVERLAY(int=1): Invalid argument
ioctl: VIDIOC_OVERLAY(int=1): Invalid argument
ioctl: VIDIOC_OVERLAY(int=1): Invalid argument

And another "ioctl: VIDIOC_OVERLAY(int=1): Invalid argument" every time I do a channel change.

Here's my dmesg:
Code:
# dmesg | grep -i bt

I've been googling for a week about this problem and I couldn't fix it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

you test this card with another distro, like knoppix? because this dmesg is pretty strange... you may also try to update your kernel...

The problem it's with the hardware. I've bought a new card and works fine.
