How well does gantoo handle foriegn installers?

I just got a fresh install of gentoo 1.4 going and I dont want to BORK it. I was wondering wow well does gantoo handle foriegn installers? For instance I'd like to install UT2003 and Kylix, they both use custom installers, will it effect the portage system at all by using them?
