I have used genkernel. While boot up I get the following error message
Code: |
# modprobe hw_random
FATAL: Error inserting hw_random (/lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r3/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko): No such device
# ls /lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r3/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.16-gentoo-r3/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko
|
The module was built and the file is present. What "device" is the error message refering to ?

The fact that you don't have a random number generator in your motherboard chipset. Don't worry: most people don't.
Some intel chipsets had them, but only if the motherboard vendor enabled it. Intel discontinued it a while ago. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
