Salve,
è una domanda...
Ogni volta che faccio una piccola modifica al kernel, (per esempio il supporto per il framebuffer, etcetc) è sempre necessario ricompilare in toto il kernel ??
Vien lunga, la cosa! |

Al massimo, se non attivi nuove voci come modulo non occorre il passaggio

make modules_install

e reinstallare i pacchetti tipo alsa-driver.
Comunque con il kernel 2.6.x la ricompilazione avviene velocemente, se l'hai già compilato e hai cambiato poche opzioni (al contrario del 2.4.x che ho notato ricompila un casino di roba). Per sicurezza è consigliato, però, pulire l'ambiente con
prima di ricompilare il kernel!
Io con un Athlon64 3800+ ci sto circa 5 minuti a compilare da zero il kernel, con abbastanza features attivate.

Se fai solo una modifica di framebuffer, ricompila soltanto questo supporto,
e poco altro, per il resto viene linkato all'oggetto che c'era già.
Sempre che tu non dia un make clean, allora tutto viene ricompilato.
In alcuni casi, viene ricompilato cmq tutto, nel caso tu inserisca il supporto dei moduli per esempio,
oppure che tu stia usando un compilatore diverso dal precendente.
