Unexpected crashes ... graphics card suspected

Hello,

My computer used to be very unstable, it crashed unexpectedly all the time. Then after a mess up my graphics driver was gone and rendered uninstallable. I had forgoten about the crashing as it didn't occur anymore (sometimes X would get weird, but nothing that woudl freeze the computer), it was safe like this for almost 5 months. Now after a fresh install of the system and when the drivers are working again, everything is smoother, faster and so on... but the crashes have returned. The computer will just randomly freeze up and have to be rebooted.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Some information on your hardware in general but specifically your graphics card and drivers would help, along with your emerge --info.

Also is it random or always after the same amount of time or only when your doing lots?

I have an Inno3D GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB (if I remember correctly), and using the latest nvidia drivers from the emerge, uhm 1.0.8756 (yes it is masked with x86 but the unmasked didn't work at all, and 7676 (which I used to use) doesn't compile at all)
