what happened to hardened-sources?

the latest version available of the hardened-sources is 2.6.11-r15.
are planned new releases, with 2.6.12/13/14 kernel?

I think the sources stay a couple of versions behind for stability puposes. After all we would not want a server to be unstable due to some dramatic changes in x parts of the kernel. Hell I guess if you really could not wait, you could apply the relevant patches yourself by stealing them out of portage.

There is an ebuild for hardened-sources-2.6.13 in portage :lol:

Hardened sources includes grsecurity/PAX
and as such relies on the availability of patches for
the respective kernel version. The latest stable patch is for 2.6.11!
hardened-sources-2.6.13 is based on test-patches that the grsecurity
developer has released.

Hi, I'm running a production server with gentoo-sources, I haven't read about the hardened-sources when I installed it.

The question is, why hardened-sources? Is really important?

I'm having no problem with the gentoo-sources. Is it luck? :-)

I'm a novice user of linux, I just want to know what's the idea and what are the technical differences of the hardened sources.
