Any ideas?
Thanks,

PS: No screens were found because I ran startx from a remote terminal, at home I get the same error.

try this (as root),
Code: | cd /usr/src/linux
make modules_install
emerge -av nvidia-kernel |
good luck _________________ no computer at the moment! |

I managed to fix it! I masked the latest version of the nvidia driver and resorted back to the old previous version.

I had the same API mismatch problem after upgrading nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx. After lots of forum reading and trying some solutions (the above included), even resorting to downgrading nvidia to version 8178 once, I found out that my driver definition in the xorg.conf had been altered to "nvidia".
I am positive on the fact that I had set it to "nv" during my original installation of X. Go figure...
My sugestion: check your Graphic Devide Section on xorg.conf and make sure driver is set to "nv".
(I am cross posting this in other similar topics) |

nv is the nvidia-driver included in xorg, which do not support hardware rendering for newer nvidia card.
nvidia is the driver provided by the company nvidia itself, a precompiled binary which support hardware rendering for newer gfx-cards. _________________ no computer at the moment! |
