Guy, I think it's happening. Well, 'stable' is a huge word, but winXP already was far beyond win95.... and it seems to go on this way...
but more and more proprietary (or at least, still THAT proprietary), which, as would GOD would say, is BAD... Or maybe it's rms _________________ Free as in FreeParty !! |

Yes. XP is better than 95 but that is really not saying much. But I agree with you that they are moving in the right directions.
I tried to install a WinTV on XP recently and was reminded of all of the reasons I hate Windows. I've been spoiled by being on Linux for so long, I forgot. I am now convinced that any product with a name that begins with w-i-n is almost certain to be a loser.
Which reminds me another rule of thumb: any product with a name beginning in x is probably overengineered. If it begins with a capital X it is probably way over engineered. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

Yeah its getting more stable, i do dual boot between gentoo and windows 2003 server.
Windows 2003 is the exception its rock stable(at least for a w$ndows ) , but its to expensive for desktop use for the normal user and winxp is unstable.
Reinstall every 2 weeks because registry got too big and windows was slow as crap, but they are moving along very slowly or as bill would say it: oops i guess thats why we aren't shipping it
And to not go totally oftopic :
Gentoo -- Because we need a penguin who can break windows |

I'm not very creative, but here goes....
I don't know how many people have seen the Rolex watch commercial, but:
"Gentoo. The time it takes to emerge it is nothing compared to the time it takes to deserve it."
(The original Rolex one was something like, "The time it takes to make one is nothing compared to the time it takes to deserve one") _________________ rcxAsh |
