Ok I read All of them And I have to say "... and on the Nth Day God Emerged World" is the best without a doubt. It's really clever, and Funny, I would buy that. |

I know, these quotes might be too long for a slogan, but anyway, coudn't resist:
Quote: | Morpheus: The current ways to install OS on computers are a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're installing, you look around. What do you see? Windows, BSD, commercial Unices, old Linux distros, and the people attempting to use them. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system, and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to change the way they use computers. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it. |
Quote: | Trinity: A deja vu is usually a glitch in RPM. It happens when they change something. |
Quote: | Morpheus: You all look the same to me. |
Quote: | Tank: So what do you need? Besides a miracle.
Neo: Ebuilds. Lots of ebuilds. |
Quote: | Neo: I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid... afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell how it's going to begin. I'm going to rsync, and then show these people how to emerge. I'm going to show them how to emerge world. A world without lost dependencies. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you. |
#2, #3, #4 might be still short enough for slogan. |

Maybe we can deduce what kind of system she was running (or was she just waiting for the GWN ?). _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

For a t-shirt or something:
[front]Before: rpm -i ftp://someserver.domain/path/to/file/foobar-1.53.rpm http://someotherserver.otherdomain/other/sort/of/path/to/file/barfoo-1.27.rpm http:// [... and so on. These should be substituted by a real list of dependencies for some real package]
[back]After: emerge foobar [again, substitute by a real package name]
Another for a t-shirt:
[front]# Copyright 2002 Daniel Robbins, Gentoo Technologies, Inc.
# System-wide defaults for the Portage system
# $Header: /home/cvsroot/gentoo-src/portage/cnf/make.globals,v 1.45 2003/02/16 1
3:57:39 carpaski Exp $
[back]Kids, don't configure this at home!
And finally, just a slogan: "Always pretend before you emerge!" (needs a good way to reflect this against "Always look before you jump")
... or two: "Gentoo. Because you're good enough to use it." _________________ <laurentius> gentoo linux?

judging by the number of times i was laughing out loud from this thread i must admit that i'm a geek. good thing i'm in good company here!
For putting a bumper sticker on your car - i proudly have a "source code is free speech" license plate frame (from thinkgeek.com) on my car. I also have a sticker that reads "LNX". that probably goes too far though. Who cares... Long live us geeks!

Quote: | Gentoo is not a distribution, its the way |
insert ying yang here.
Quote: | No installer. No Crap |
Quote: | What is Linux without control? |
omg had to make the carl lewis/pirelli joke.
