Hi guys. I'm trying to upgrade my xorg to the new version 7.0. I read the guide and I started unmerging the previous version installed on my system. After that I added the necessary packages to package.keywords but now this is what I'm getting after I try to emerge xorg-x11:

Code:

I can't understand the reason why xorg-x11 is blocking something. I've already unmerged it. Maybe I did something wrong?
Thanks for any answer.

Try adding
Code:
virtual/x11 virtual/x11     >=x11-base/xorg-x11-7

to /etc/portage/profile/virtuals

If that doesn't work, post the full output of
Code:
emerge -pv xorg-x11

you're supposed to remove the old xorg 6.8.2 first. check in the gentoo wiki for a full howto.

As I said I already did it. I unmerged the previous xorg and the message says the package which is blocking is xorg-x11-6.9, not 6.8. I don't know, but maybe the problem could be related to the downgrade of some days ago. It seems a version of xorg has been removed from portage, so that a downgrade to 6.8.2 has been performed. Maybe something wrong has happened? Anyway, at the moment the solution posted is working. I got no more the error message. Now it is compiling.
Thanks.

I just succeeded in emerging xorg-x11-7.0 but now I'm trying a world upgrade and I'm getting the same error again. I have no problem if I use emerge -a world, but I get the errors of the first post when using emerge -aD world instead. Does anyone have any idea of the reason?
Thanks.
