Fluxter Cannot connect to window manager

ok i'm trying to get fluxter or bbpager working on fluxbox, but i get that error.. the complete terminal result is :

$ fluxter
Local fluxbox config file: "/home/user/.fluxbox/fluxter.bb"
Default fluxbox config file: "/usr/share/commonbox/fluxbox/fluxter.bb"
Cannot connect to window manager

i saw some other ppl having the same problem, but noone seemed to have solved it ..

i get the same problem with bbpager .. also with another one ithink .. can't remember the name ..

any idea?

i can paste my xorg.conf if necessary .. or some log files .. not sure which ones might be relevant ..

I'm not sure why you are having trouble with fluxter. I have used fbpager before with fluxbox and it worked. You might want to try fbpager instead. Also, what version of fluxbox are you using?

i'm using fluxbox 0.9.15.1
i tried fbpager, but for some reason i couldn't emerge it .. maybe a problem of incompatible keywords or versions ..

but i think the problem is not directly linked to a particular pager.
when i try fluxbox or startfluxbox from console, it says "couldn't connect to X server" .. but if i do startx it works fine ..
