Hi there,
I really want my laptop to actually suspend to ram inside of Linux. In my school im always moving and would love to hit the power button (as I do in windows) and fire it into my backpack with it standing by in my backpack, where and when it wont overheat. I emerged the suspend sources a while ago but haven't really gotten a chance to look at them now. I compiled as normal and then got the hibernate script all configured. I found that there were a few ways to do a suspend.
Through ACPI, Through the kernel sources and through Power State.
Now to the issue:
I found that none of those methods fully worked. I tried each in turn, and found that they all aborted after using the --force option. Finally, I tried Power > State (or somethign) and it successfully entered suspend mode, in which the blue ring around my power button stops glowing blue and emits a subtle color of orange that fades off and on. Its very nice. Anyways, upon trying to bring it out of suspend mode, it (obviously) panics. The light turns blue, and Im pretty sure the screen turns on, but then it just sits. I pressed the caps lock button and the light didn't come on, so (from past experiences) I think that it paniced.
I am hoping that someone can help me fix this issue and get it completely working!!
I dont know what sort of information you need, but I will certainly do my best to get it if you request it.
Here is the basics.
x86, Pentium 4 (Mobile), 3.22 GHz
1024 MB RAM
Phoenix BIOS (toshiba branded)
Gentoo (duh), Stage 1.
Thanks so much for the help! _________________ iMac G4 1GHz :: q6600 //2x 500GB//2GB RAM//8600GT//Gentoo :: MacBook Pro//2.53GHz |

It is very laptop specific, so look here: http://linux-on-laptops.com/ and see if your model has any articles listed. Then read them Thats how I fixed a lot of my i8600's issues. _________________ Desktop: AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice Core, 2GB PC3200, 2x160GB 7200rpm Maxtor DiamondMax 10, 2x320GB WD 7200rpm Caviar RE, Nvidia 6600GT 256MB
