When I do an emerge -upd world I get this:

Code:
Parent:    None
Depstring: net-im/kopete
Candidates: ['net-im/kopete']
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 3311, in ?
    if not mydepgraph.xcreate(myaction):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1407, in xcreate
    if not self.select_dep(portage.root, mydep, raise_on_missing=True):
  File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1261, in select_dep
    raise ValueError
ValueError

What do I do about it?

did you upgrade your portage version since that happened? try running "emerge --metadata" and see if the problem goes away. OTOH, what version of portage is this?

No I haven't upgraded since the problem, I don't think so atleast.

running emerge --metadata now.

what?? 8O

you are able to emerge net-im/kopete, but if you try to update world you get the error you posted 8O

do an "emerge net-im/kopete", does that really work?

hmm, btw.. the package is hardmasked!
All ebuilds that could satisfy "net-im/kopete" have been masked

is that actually already installed on your system?

well, i dont get this. one one hand you say emerge udv world fails, on the other you say you dont have problems emerging anything. i'm at a loss 8O
please clarify
