Hi, I was wondering why Google maps is not working on my AMD64 (compiled with 64 bits and all, nothing really weird in the configuration as far as I can tell). I only get a gray screen instead of the map. I can pan around but there is little purpose in that...

I thought the reason was I did not have Flash installed (for the well-known problems), but when I uninstalled Flash from my office machine (a Pentium) Google maps kept working there. So I am wondering whether google maps is working with your AMD64s, and what software it really depends on.

Cheers

It runs with no problems here. I don't think it needs anything other than javascript to do its thing -- flash and any other media plugins are unnecessary.

Are you running the AdBlock extension, or any other extension that messes with the content of the page? How about Privoxy to block ads? If you are you may need to adjust your settings to allow things in the google.com domain to get through unfiltered. That would be true for any javascript-based site like Google Maps to work.

Er, in fact it works in Konqueror, but not in Firefox. I have no special extension in Firefox, however, and I'm also allowing cookies... Well, I guess I'll jsut stick to using Konqueror for Google maps.

Thanks anyway!
