Hi I m operation a Dell M 70 on a 2.6.16 kernel and i have many problems.

To use my wireless card (intel wireless pro) , the roadmap is too path the kernel emerging ipw2200
getting the last firware (3.0) and may be changing the timeout on hotplug (i read it on a forum).

I took care to do it and to remove all the old kernel modules (mainly removing ieee chain
and ipw2200).

Well nothing seems to works, I always get the same error when loading the firmware
(-2 and -5) (doing modprobe, and dmesg)

The card is also found by hotplug , the is driver loaded, the Ieee80211 chain is loaded too (the patched one),
and the firmware but the firmware timesout, may be because the card styas asleep.

I even tried to go on source forge to get the latest ipw2200 driver, ie80211 chain and firmwares released
and no luck.

On problem with this card is that you trigger it on with a KEY or a software
and in my bios i used the KEY and Software options, i cannot choose to have the card always one
(the 3 options are : software, key or off.

Second Problem :

The Nvidia driver.

When patching (emerging nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx) and compiling i miss two symbols,
doing a big find + grep on the kernel tree
i cannot find those symbols anywhere.

Thoise symbols have vanished ... it's not a .config issue since
using find + grep i checked all my tree.
The missing Symbols are namely:

remap_page_range andpci_find_class

For me it helped to use nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx with ~x86. they fixed the unresolved symbols in the newest build.

Oh thanks, it works now i downgraded to 2.16.14 and the missing symbols are gone.

For the IPw2200 the trick is to dowgrade to udev070, it is wirtten in the guide
by this detail is a bit hidden in the guide.
