|
Hi there,
I ran into a little problem after updating to 2.6.16-r6 kernel. Whenever I execute "halt" or "poweroff" the system begins to shut down properly but freezes after an output "System halted". I run Gentoo on a laptop 1.8GHz Centrino with Intel 855GM, 64MB video card. But the strangest thing is that after the system freezes when I attempt to manually shut down with the power off button it goes into standby and I don't have ACPI installed at all. I also tried downgrading and then updating to the latest version the baselayout package but no luck. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.
Daniel

do you have any APM (advanced power manager)-driver installed in your kernel? _________________ no computer at the moment! ![Crying or Very sad ](images/smiles/icon_cry.gif) |

No, not at all. In fact the whole power management support and cpu scaling is disabled since I'm only testing things. |

when I used t o have a computer ( ), I had to have APM compiled in the kernel for the computer to shut down it self, just apm nothing else. try that. _________________ no computer at the moment! ![Crying or Very sad ](images/smiles/icon_cry.gif) |
