When I try to use cfdisk it gives me the following error:
opened disk read-only - you have no permissions to write
How do I fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated. |

have you chosen the correct disk to partition when using cfdisk, such as; cfdisk /dev/hda or cfdisk /dev/sda (depending on your hardware setup)? if you are using a livecd and just type cfdisk without specifying a disk it will try running on the cd, which would be read-only and give that error. check the link below for more information. hope that helps.

I normally just type in cfdisk and it goes directly to my main hard drive. I got a new computer so this one might be different. I'll try chosing the location. I'll post the reults. |

Try this command. It will list all detected harddrives. That way you will know the correct device name to use.
