Okay, this is a weird one.
I have a server box and a desktop box. The server box is hosting the portage directory for the desktop box, so they are working from the same portage trees. Both machines have the same version of sgmltools-lite running (3.0.3-r7). Same USE flags as far as I can see (for sgmltools-lite).
If I type "sgmltools -b dvi" (or -b ps) on the server, it drops back to a command prompt ("hey, I tried"). If I do the same on the desktop it says "unknown backend dvi" (or ps) and gives me the help text and a command prompt.
Come now, this is just silly. What's going on here? How can I diagnose?

Hmm; I'd used UFED to add the "tetex" flag, and "emerge -Dpvt sgmltools-lite" showed the use flags as "tetex*"; I had done "emerge --newuse world" and it recompiled two packages but evidently not this one. Re-emerging sgmltools-lite with the tetex flag seemed to work. Weird. Maybe I should have done "-D --newuse world" or some such. |
