Hi,
Everything was working for old kernel.
did make oldconfig, then ran genkernel:
genkernel --gensplash --gensplash=default --gensplash-res=1280x1024 all.
kernel got build, and it sorta starts.
I get to the initramfs, and it tries to boot, but then it fails.
the last message to be printed is:
"!! could not mount specified root"
on the screen, I notice that only two modules are loaded (both sata), so I guess the problem is that the IDE/ATA modules, or the FS modules are not being loaded.
anyone knows how to load them?
other interesting lines in the boot process are:
"
failed to open /dev/f0 for reading
cant open config file /etc/splash/default/0x0.cfg
loading modules
:: Scanning for sata_sx4 ...
:: Scanning for sata_sus ....
Activating udev
mounting /dev/hda6 on /newroot failed: invalid argument.
!! could not mount specfiied root.

forgot to add.
old kernel is gentoo-source-2.6.15-r5
new kernel is gentoo-sources-2.6.16-r6. |
