I'm having problems with Xine... it crashes on startup. Sometimes it works when I have other audio-using programs turned off, other times it doesn't; it's quite random and it bothers me.

I posted a bug...
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132514

Diego is requesting that other AMD64 people can reproduce it. Anyone run into this?

Try recompile Xine with USE="-arts -samba". This helped me.

I had the same problem but there was two different problems.

First it rarely worked but then I used
Code:

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" emerge xine-ui xine-lib

When things don't work for the amd64 I usually try the beta branch first

The second thing was xine crashes when ever I try to play matroska format videos. So check to see if those are the files that it crashes on.

Thanks; I've tried all of the different versions available in Portage, both ~amd64 and non. No dice. And I can't even get it to play a file; it doesn't even load.

Turns out I needed to turn off the debug use flag.
