I have seen the forum search capability nonresponsive to any multiple word searches for several days now.
Any search I initiate with more than one keyword (and's and or's don't help) returns "the document contains no data" as as error. I have seen this behavior with several browsers.

Anyone else or am I crazy? I can't even submit THIS post. "the document contains no data".

Cheers,
-Chris

Here's some sample output from Konqueror:
Search for "openh323 pwlib" (which is currently broken) returns:
#####
An error occurred while loading https://forums.gentoo.org/search.php?mode=results&sid=1f08273ea4f7864bf4185bb130077400:
Connection to host forums.gentoo.org is broken.
#####

I see that several upgrades have occured recently, any chance that the search function got "upgraded" in the process?

To me it works, and gives this thread as the first result and this as the second. Weird.
EDIT: I've tried firefox and konqueror 3.5.2.

Bye

normally suspect myself first, (and have been checking my connectivity to ensure I'm not crazy), but this is across both machines and locations (work vs home)

Thanks for checking though.

We haven't made any changes to the search engine in the recent upgrades.

I've read that this problem can be caused by quite a few things, including proxy settings and firefox extensions such as adblock.

There are some things you could try:

  • Clearing your browser's cache
  • Disabling any proxies/extensions
  • Setting browser.xul.error_pages.enabled to true in about:config

I'll certainly try those suggestions. Thanks for the input. It's just strange that it occurred across multiple browsers on multiple machines at different locations.

Cheers,
-Chris
