Hi,
I've been trying out the demo of quake4, mainly to see if games in Linux can have good surround, because I have never encountered it. (on a sidenote, I wish I could play EAX surround games in Wine, so that I can play half-life decently).
The game would seem to support it, but all I get is mirrored stereo in the rear speakers. I start the game with:
Code: | quake4-demo +set s_driver alsa +set s_alsa_pcm surround40routed +set s_numberOfSpeakers 6 |
surround40routed is a custom alsa device which routes 5.1 surround over 4 speakers.
Playing surround in xine/mplayer/etc works just fine, so my alsa configuration is not to blame, I would say.
Is quake4's "surround" just mirroring in the rear speakers, or is it possible to have true surround and I'm doing something wrong? |
