dear gentoo-ists: I am running apache and an uw-imap server on my gentoo amd64 machine. my personal email is organized into many subfolders, thousands of messages I have sent and received over many years. searching it is painfully slow via the imap search facility, and the user search interface from mozilla is unpleasant, too. I would much rather have something like google: type in a few words into an unstructured field, and out come emails that match my search, from any mailbox. simplicity would be a virtue, both in installation and use.
are there any (unmasked) packages that gentoo recommends for such tasks?
I wanted to try lurker, but [a] it is masked (yes, it installs nicely if unmasked), and [b] it has practically no installation instructions (stuck).
advice appreciated.

I use squirrelmail, which has a search function. Setup similar to yours. |
