I've noticed that the recent release of liboil 0.3.8 breaks gnome-settings-daemon, causing the following crash when I run it by hand, and presumably something similar when it's started automatically.
/usr/X11R6/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
** (gnome-settings-daemon:29531): WARNING **: The system configuration changed
- but we remain silent
[1146319536,000,xklavier.c:XklStartListen/] The backend does not require
manual layout management - but it is provided by the application
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstaudioresample.so
Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Re-emerging gstreamer and its various plugins, appropriate bits of gnome and liboil didn't solve the problem, and the only fix I've discovered is going back to liboil 0.3.6. I'm using gcc 4.1 and arch ~amd64, so I may be asking for trouble , but I haven't seen anyone anywhere with similar problems. Has anyone got any suggestions before I report it as a bug?
