|
|
So I'm trying a first attempt at installing with the jackass cd and tar, everything seemed to go fine with the install. But on reboot the system reboots its self everytime
The boot cruises on past udev, checks files systems etc and has no probelms it then gets to :
Starting lo
Bringing up lo
Initializing random number generator
INIT: Entering runlevel: 6
Saving random seed
Stopping lo
Shutting down lo
Deactivating swap
Unmounting filesystems
Remounting remaining filesystems readonly
and then reboots! I have no idea why or what is causing this, can nayone help, please.

It sounds like runlevel 6 got set to the default runlevel, so the "normal" behavior is to reboot. I assume you have grub as the bootloader? Put the number of the runlevel you want at the end of the kernel line. Just press 'e' when grub comes up, and put a '3' at the end of the line, then hit 'b'. You'll have to look at /etc/inittab after you boot for a line like this:
Change the '6' to a '3'. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

Sure. I still wonder how that happened. Maybe a bug in one the install scripts. If so, it's going to irritate a lot of people. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
