|
|
in a previous topic i got the DWL-G122 ver C1 (USB) to work through ndiswrapper, which was fantastic. then i moved onto my other box which is AMD64, and just couldn't get the DWL-G122 to work - in fact couldn't get ndiswrapper to modprobe (really big lock up).
i have on hand a DWL-G510 ver C1 (PCI card). please don't tell me i'm stupid for having D-Link wireless gear, that's all i've got.
* "lspci | grep RT" gives
00:0d.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 rev B 802.11g
now here are my questions:
1. the box (and the card) says H/W ver C1, but lspci mentions a "rev B" ... i've done my own research, but can anyone tell me what they think the chipset / driver should be?
2. can anyone who has successfully installed this hardware on AMD64 tell me how they did it?
- did you use rt2500, rt2x00, rt61, modprobed rt2500, rt2500pci, etc etc.?
- was ieee80211 in the kernel or "emerge ieee80211"?
- did you use the cvs tarballs from http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com, or emerge <whatever> and just modprobe?
- when you do modprobe, do you immediately get an "ra0" (i'm still guessing whether i should get an ra0 or wlan0 - i get nothing)
- i'm most definitely doing this against an SMP, and preemption free kernel right now -- did you?
- did ndiswrapper work for you, or is it just me?
i can honestly say i have tried just about every combination of the above options, and been through a lot of threads both here and at rt2x00.serialmonkey.com, and i just need someone who's been there to point me in the right direction - i've learned a heap more about gentoo than ever, but probably too much for one weekend... i need a solution right now. |

anyone at all?
even if someone could just say whether they got it to work on AMD64 (these USB or PCI driver devices) or whether they gave up on trying to make it work, would be a big help.

You need either the rt61 driver or the rt2x00 driver. Both can be found at Serialmonkey's website or at least a link to them.
AFAIK, you can only grab the rt61 driver with CVS from serialmonkey's sourceforge project.

I am using a RT2500 based card on an Athlon64 machine in 32bit mode. Sorry, can't help ya there.

It would probably be a good idea to search serialmonkey's forums for rt61 related posts. If you can't find anything that helps you in your situation you could post your question there. The dev's there are very helpful and responsive. |
