|
|
I have a mATX M/B with an onboard VGA. I also have an additional dual port VGA card in a PCI slot. The system is dual boot with Windows and Gentoo. The primary VGA is the PCI card. The onboard VGA is automatically switched off.
If I boot into Gentoo the onboard LAN (eth0) will work fine. I boot into Windows all is working fine including the LAN. Then I reboot into Gentoo and the LAN will not function. I have to remove the PCI VGA card to get the LAN working again, then put the PCI card back in again.
If I boot in Gentoo, then restart and boot in gentoo again the LAN continous to work, it is only when I boot into Windows.
Is it possible Windows is changing something. I used pci=routeirq to no avail.
Any ideas.

If it only happens after Windows, it's a pretty safe bet that the fault lies there. Do you really have to physically remove the card and replace it? I'd think powering down, then back up, would clear any weird state imposed by Windows. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |

I have to physically remove the card. I tried hard power down with no luck. It seems like windows is changing something low level or the BIOS is not reseting something.
lspci looks fine. I am at a lost but will investigate what windows could be doing. |

Wow. What a pain in the ass. I've never heard of that being necessary before. I could understand if the card you removed and replaced was the one having trouble, but the fact that it's your ethernet controller is just bizarre. Is there any connection between them? You seem to imply that they're sharing an interrupt. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
