Hi there,

I've read some topics about MS Natural Keyboards... But I still have some questions...

So I followed this ones:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-440503-highlight-microsoft+natural+keyboard.html
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-390636-highlight-microsoft+natural+keyboard.html

First of all I can't set key codes:

Code:
uvsoft soft # setkeycodes e064 232
KDSETKEYCODE: No such device
...

and haven't got /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb directory to set some configuration files up...

Quote:
To do this, we'll have to look at two files. /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/inet contains keysymbol definitions for a for a handful of internet and multimedia keyboard models, including "microsofmult" (aka Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard). Within each keyboard section, keysymbols are matched to codes that are used internally within xkb. from now on we'll call these internal codes xkbcodes (feel free to step in and tell me their real name).

Quote:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/keycodes/xfree86 contains a table that maps each xkbcode to a system keycode.

So that's it.

I'm positive someone has this keyboard with working multimedia keys.... Can you list actions to be done to make it work?

Thanks

Thanks, some multimedia keys work now, but not all of them( For example, zoom button, myfavorites don't work, even XEV can't show them... it just keeps silence when I press those buttons( dmesg does the same... What should I do to make it work?

Yes, it is, it's USB keyboard... Do you think I should do something with kernel's configuration? Did you solve your problem? Can you show me your Device Drivers -> USB Support options?
