Hey all i just recently had gentoo installed by a buddy at my school so im really green when it comes linux. Because we just started our summer vacation and im home now he's unable to help me fix the problems ive been having. Everything seems to work fine but i have two problems:
Problem #1 : the volume percentage bar that appears when you adjust the volume is stuck in the middle of the screen. Whenever i try to adjust the volume to a higher level it brings the level right back down to zero. Its acting like there is a stuck key. I checked all the keys and nothing is stuck. I tried muting the sound but that didnt solve the problem. Im not really sure what to do from here!
Problem #2: When i log into gentoo the window only displays in about 1/2 of my monitors dimension. Im using a dell Notebook. Is there any way to adjust the settings so that gentoo will use all of the LCD?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! _________________ "Suffer in Silence" |

Sounds like a sound driver problem to me - what soundcard/chip do you have?

Have a look in your xorg.conf and check whether the resolution you want is listed first on the colour depth you're using. In fact I'd comment out all the depths except 24bit unless you have a reason to use 1/4/8/16 bit.
Hope this helps! If not pls reply with emerge info.
