salut
Sous les autres distri, mon canon PowerShot S30 est detecté par DigiKam sans problème (parfois c'est même konqueror qui le detecte). J'ai donc du rater quelque chose sous ma gentoo pour que ces 2 softs detectent mon APN... Où est-ce que cela se passe ? Dans le noyau ? J'ai regardé, je vois pas d'option reliée...

que te retourne un dmesg , et un lsusb ?
a mon avis si l'usb détecte ton APN, il faut monté ton APN a la main.
Sauf si tu install hald et dbus

Donc il te suffit maintenant de trouvé sur quel node se connecte t'il.
Débranche et rebranche ton APN, et regarde ton dmesg
hald et dbus sont en fait des daemons.
Il vont monté une clef usb, un lecteur de cdrom automatiquement par exemple.
a mon avis tu les as installé (EDIT : install hal également) mais tu ne les a pas démarrer.

Pour ajouté ces daemons au boot de ton pc :

J'ai emergé hal et je l'ai démarré (et ajouté au boot), ainsi que dbus.
Je branche alors l'apn mais rien ne se passe. Et digikam me dit toujours "Impossible de se connecter à l'apn". Je dois qd même pas rebooter  ?

Hmm essaye de monté a la main ton APN.
mount /dev/sdaX /mnt/usb
Ou X réprésente un chiffre. ça peut être sdb, sdc également.
lsusb -v ou -vv te donne pas plus d'information ?

Je pense plutôt que le problème vient du fait que les Canon (en tous cas certains dont le mien, un PowerShot S50) ne peuvent pas être utilisés en USB Mass Storage.
Mais il y a une solution : utiliser la libgphoto2, que tu peux coupler à l'interface Digikam si tu préfères KDE/Qt ou gtkam si tu préfère Gnome/GTK (si jamais tu as encore le paquet gphoto2 qui te permet d'accéder à ta caméra, mais bon, manipuler des images en ligne de commande c'est pas super pratique)

en fait cette commande te connecte directement sur le bus USB de ton APN et si tu change de ports ça ne sera plus les même adresses.
Regarde les résultats de ton lsusb -vv tu remarquera ID et BUS
